Scam Me Not (“we”, “our”, or “the extension”) is a browser extension designed to protect Gmail users from email scams and phishing attacks. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

2. Information We Access

To provide scam protection, the extension accesses:

• Email Metadata: Sender addresses, subject lines, and email preview text from your Gmail inbox
• Local Storage: Your preferences, settings, blocked/trusted sender lists, and custom detection rules

This information is processed entirely within your browser and is never transmitted to external servers.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be clear about what we do NOT do:

• We do NOT store your emails or email content on any server
• We do NOT sell or share any user data with third parties
• We do NOT track your browsing activity
• We do NOT collect personally identifiable information
• We do NOT read the full body content of your emails
• We do NOT have access to your Gmail password or credentials

4. How We Use Information

The information we access is used solely to:

• Scan emails for phishing patterns and scam indicators
• Detect spoofed sender domains and suspicious senders
• Display warnings for potentially dangerous emails
• Remember your blocked and trusted sender preferences
• Save your extension settings and preferences

5. Data Storage

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome’s built-in storage APIs:

• chrome.storage.local: Stores your settings, blocked/trusted lists, and scan statistics
• chrome.storage.sync: May sync preferences across your Chrome browsers (if signed in)

You can clear all stored data at any time through the extension’s settings page.

6. Third-Party Services

The extension uses ExtensionPay.com solely for processing Pro subscription payments. When you upgrade to Pro:

• Payment processing is handled securely by Stripe through ExtensionPay
• We do not have access to your credit card details
• ExtensionPay’s privacy policy governs payment data handling

7. Data Security

We take security seriously:

• All processing occurs locally in your browser
• No email data is transmitted over the internet
• We use Chrome’s secure storage APIs
• The extension code is reviewed by Chrome Web Store

8. Your Rights

You have full control over your data:

• Access: View your stored data in the extension settings
• Delete: Clear all data through settings or by uninstalling the extension
• Opt-out: Disable auto-scanning at any time in settings

9. Children’s Privacy

The extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy.
